Halloween and All Saints' Day

Halloween and All Saints' Day

When the autumn is coming and the weather is getting chillier people prepare for the Halloween or All Saints' Day. In Hungary this expression "Halloween" became known among the people few years earlier. We know that Halloween is an USA custom which become more and more popular. It is not regular in Hungary that children wander door to door saying Trick or Treat and a few years ago we didn't have marrows with lightening candles. This day (1st of November) or the one before hungarian people go into the graves of dead relatives, bring flowers and light candles. We remember our dead relatives. I think it is very nice tradition which brings the relatives closer.

How do you celebrate Halloween in your country?

Hungarian Talent Spotters - X-Faktor vs Megasztár

Hungarian Talent Spotters - X-Faktor vs Megasztár

By this time it had become common that we can see new talented singers on the stages every day. In Hungary the two main suppliers (TV2 and RTL KLUB) broadcast talent scouts at the same time in order to obtain more viewer than its rival, so we don't have choice what to watch on TV saturday evening. This programmes are entertainer, both of them have pretty gifted singers. I like to watch people who can sing pretty good especialliy if they are good presenter. However, it is too much that there are more and more talent scouts in every year.

How about in your country?

Have your country organized talent spotters?

Have you ever heard about X-factor?

Budapest, part 2

In the first part I started to show you my favourites attractions in the capital of Hungary. Here there are my other favourites:

2. Chain Bridge and the Danube Promenade

A well-known attractions in Budapest is the Chain Bridge spanning the Danube at the foot Castle hill.

THe Danube Promenade runs along the river between the Chain bridge and Elizabeth bridge.

3. Gellért Hill

It is one of the loveliest green spots in Budapest. It is perfect for weekend outgoings. Winding walkways lead up to the top, where Citadella, a former fortress and the Liberty Statue stand. It is nice rendezvous spot for couples :)
4. Andrássy Avanue with Opera House, museums and luxury shops
It is an elegant avenue whitch connects the inner city with Heroe's Square and City Park. The Hungarian State Opera House can be found on the road. Besides if you plan longer walk you can take rest in one of many sidewelk cafes and restaurants lining the road. A famous museum the House of Terror is also located on Andrássy avenue.

Budapest, the capital of Hungary (First part)

My boyfriend lives in Budapest due to that I spend lots of time in the capital. In my opinion Budapest has something for everyone:

modern lifestyle and old world charm

grand coffee houses and little cafes

magnificient arhitecture

small antique boutiques and enormous, shinny shopping malls

classical music in the Opera House and latest hits in the nightclubs

the Danube with splendid bridges over it (the river divides the city for two parts: Buda and Pest)

No doubt there are lots of places which are worth to visiting when you spend some time in Budapest. My favourites attractions are the following:

1. The Castle Hill with the Royal Palace and Matthias Church in Buda

The Castle District abounds in historical monuments, lovely old houses, romantic walkways, small cafes and great restaurants. One of the city's best panoramic views can be admired from Fishermen's Bastion.

continue.....

Summer Holiday on Balatonkenese

Summer Holiday on Balatonkenese

Hi again!

As I promised yesterday that I try to improve my English knowledge with writing a blog every day or at least once a week, now i would like to tell something about my summer holiday. I live in Hungary and I very like my country. In my opinion it is very beautiful. There are lots of places which are worth visiting for instance the capital: Budapest, Lake Balaton, Hortobágy National Park etc. So this summer I visited to the Lake Balaton.

Lake Balaton is a freshwater in Hungary, actually it is the largest lake in Central Europe. The lake is known in Hungary as Balaton (nicknamed: Balcsi) and it is often called the "Hungarian Sea". During the summer holiday period awful lot of people visit the lake from hungary and different kind of foreign country. The major resorts around the lake are Siófok, Keszthely and Balatonfüred. Siófok is known as the "Party Capital of Hungary" which attracts many young party goers in summer due to its numerous large clubs. As a matter of fact Siófok is one of my favourite places in Hungary. The main tourist season takes from June to end of August, when the average water temperature is 25, which makes bathing and swimming possible.

So in this summer I went with my boyfriend to Lake Balaton. We had accomodation in a 3 stars hotel at Balatonkenese. Balatonkenese is a little town in Veszprém county, Hungary. We spent there 4 days which were beautiful. Virtually we did nothing just lay on the beach, and swam. Balaton is very nice there, the floor of Balaton is covered by sand, it wans't muddy or gritty.(I don't know how to say it in english :), I am thinking of that when you go into the water and you stand on something). When we were there the weather was hot and the water had pleasant temperature. We enjoyed the sunshine all day. It was perfect for us after the daily routine to spend our time with relaxing.
