Answering your questions

I made it a point to answer some of the questions I've been getting. Although I have to be honest. It takes a lot of time to answer one question. So I will be choosing the questions that I will answer.

I thought of blogging it up so that if you have a similar question you can just read it here.

Here's my reply to a question. I've also added the real message I've sent and the real message that I got.

MY RESPONSE:

first i'd like to discuss what is a photograph.. a photograph or a photo is a picture right? it's one frame. or if you want us to be literal.. one picture can only be put in one frame..
now let's go to the word cinema.. cinema is connected to the words movie and video. why? when you go to the cinema or theater, you're going there to watch a movie. Am I right? Anyway, the definition of a video is a number of photos / pictures being played in less than a minute. or you can find a better definition in the dictionary. anyway, a video is a compilation of pictures ... or as we have established the picture is one frame.. then we can now say that a video has several frames..

so now why they say the word truth?
the writer simply just wants to express what he thinks of photography and cinema..
so let's focus on "photography is truth"
for him photography is capturing what is true. for instance let's try to compare photography to a painting. A painting maybe a result of truth but it will depend on the artist how he wants to depict it. while taking a picture from a camera.. you are just taking it as it is.. but of course there are certain times when the photographer wants to capture a different angle. nevertheless, he only has what he has in front and to show us.

so going back to the sentence.
"Photography is truth and cinema is truth 24 times a second."
For him cinema is still truth but come in 24 frames per second.

Just a comment, is this the real sentence.. shouldn't it be...
"Photography is truth and cinematography is truth 24 times a second."

In connection to what I have written in my lessons page, I would like to correct your comments.

Please try to view my blog every now and then and be sure to read it before posting a comment.

I repeat: "be sure to read it before posting a comment"

Your comments have to be in relation to what I have posted before I will correct your comments. Otherwise, I will just read it and respond to it just like any other comments.

Your comment has to have a connection to what I have posted. You shouldn't post things like.. "I want to be friends with you... I am glad to meet you... "

There's a proper place for that. You can post those kind of comments in my profile page.

I'm not trying to be strict. I can't correct all the comments in my blogs because it will take time. But I will try to do it for you. So the least you could do is actually read my blogs. One more thing, it will also let me check your comprehension skills. I would know if the person just browsed through it and didn't read a single word.

Now how about placing a comment on this blog entry?

Following Instructions

I had a laugh after getting a message a while ago from a real gentleman. He was telling me that he wants me to be his friend. He said that he wants to improve his english and nothing more to it. I liked that. He was being too careful and truly nice. He sounded like a guy who read my blog and was following instructions! haha

It's nice to see a decent guy here.

For all new friends, you don't have to be so formal. I understand the compliments and truly am grateful for it. Thank you. But some people just make it too obvious that they weren't just in it for making friends. It was a come on! And I don't like that. I am very friendly. I wish people would just know their boundaries. So far, if you're my friend and I didn't decline your invitation then I have no problem with you... or I don't have any problem with you yet.

As you can see I like updating my blog. Thank you for reading!

Creating Lessons

I have just been apporved by the site to create lessons! And I'm going to use it for the greater good!

I want to really help out people and eventually get to find my prospect students -- those who really want to learn.

Don't get me wrong I'm a fun teacher. I just don't like people who have other intentions. This is for learning english. Not to matchpeople dot com! hello?

I hate to say this.

But I will be reporting messages that are not connected with english lessons as spam. Specifically people just wanting to get personal with you. When I say personal -- saying i love you's.. telling you that they want to meet you and be something else.. EEEKKK!! Get a hold of yourself!! Get real!

I hope this doesn't discourage people to be friends with me. But please have more decency! Next time I get things like that I'll put the names here in my blog.

I just got a message asking for my number..

Please! I'm not here for that kind of friendship. If you have other intentions rather than learning english.. then i would like to begin declining some people who invite me to be their friends. I am a Filipino-Chinese living in the Philippines. I hate it that some Filipinos think that this is a place where to find friends to send sms with. If I wanted that I should have stuck with friendster.

Please! Have a little decency!! This is all for English Lessons. I know for a fact that Filipinos are good with english. I don't see that you need to help me or need to help you with your english. So please, don't ask for my number.

I'm blogging about this to send a message for all the future people that have the same plans. sorry.. no numbers!

my first blog entry

here's my first blog entry here.

i am excited to meet new friends here and to be able to meet future students as well. as you may know i have been teaching english to koreans, taiwanese, chinese and japanese for more than 2 years. aside from that i have also worked as an online math tutor for some american and australian students through an online company.
