Today - the 23rd of July is a very sad day for my nation. 16years ago on this day my hometown Aghdam, one of the most beautiful regions of Garabagh, Azerbaijan was occupied by armenian occupants. This town having 151sq.km territory is situated on a very auspicious place where lowlands comes together with the mountains of Small Caucasus, and has lots of gold ore deposits. Maybe this is one of the causes that the enemy considered its occupation to be of decisive importance. Aghdam had population approximately of 158.000, 5800 of which became martyrs when defending their homeland. Besides of thousands of houses, schools, Institutes armenian barbarians destroyed old mosque of the town that dated back to 18th century, the only Bread Museum in the territory of former USSR, Old Tea House, public libraries containing old manuscripts and so on. Even today they continue this vandalism by burning fertile soild lands of this region so that they will be able to gain fertility only in a century. Inspite of seizefire condition the territories near to armenian border suffer fire-attack nearly every day. Every month at least one solider becomes martyr as a result of this skirmishings. From the beginning of this year 8armenian soldiers crossed the border, and voluntarily surrendered to Azerbaijani soldiers 'cause of the violence they suffer in the armenian military units in Garabagh. This shows their own miserablity.I've seen Aghdam maybe 5-6 times as i lived in Baku with my family. But still I remember very well the days I went to Aghdam for holidays, mu Granparents' house, my swing in our yard, the pond that I swam, its woods, and other beauties that I cannot see for 16 years. Of course, war is a very bad thing, very bad. But I'm sure if these damn peace negotiations will result in nothing, every man and woman of this land with weapond in their hands will be ready to survive our occupied lands from enemies.
