I think it is better to put the message here:
I just want to talk about something which I think very important in order to understand each other.
There are some Muslims who think that “God” is something else, and there are some non-Muslims who think that “Allah” is something else, yesterday I was in chat room and I was seeing an argument between a Muslim and a Christian, and the Christian said: “I just have to say that I don’t believe in the God you believe in”, and the Muslim reply “me too, I don’t believe your God”.
Neither of them have knowledge about their religion.
Because if you read certain Christian literature about Islam, they will say that Muslims believe in another God like the moon god or whatever god. And there are some Muslims who think that Christian, because they believe in Trinity, that they believe in other God.
Now the point that the Quran makes when it says: “Say (O Muhammad SAW): “O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians): Come to a common word that is just between us and you, that we worship none but Allah-God- (Alone), and that we associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allah-God-. Then, if they turn away, say: “Bear witness that we are Muslims.” (bowing to Allah’s-God’s- will)” (3-64)
Are we talking about the Creator of the Heaven and the Earth?? Yes!!!! Then we are talking about the SAME God. What we are differing on is the particulars. The universal we agree on, but we begin to differ when we look at what is the concept of that God. Because Christina believe that God is one, they don’t believe that God is three, THEY REALLY DON’T, they don’t believe that God is three, they believe that He is one, but He goes in this mystical mysterious way, so they believe in one God, they are NOT idolaters, and Jews definitely believe in one God.
So when we look at the word “God” in the Quran “Allah” is used. Allah is the proper name in Arabic for The One and Only God, The Creator and Sustainer of the universe. It is used by the Arab Christians and Jews for the God (Elohim in Hebrew; ‘Allaha’ in Aramaic, the mother tongue of Jesus (PBUH)). In fact, there are small areas in north of my city Damascus who speak Aramaic , and I have a friend in my faculty who taught me some Aramaic words, they use the word “Allaha” for “God” which is very similar to the word “Allah” in Arabic. He taught me this “Allaha minokhoon which means (God be with you).” Which is very similar to the Arabic “Allah ma’akoom which means (God be with you)” This is the mother language of Jesus (PBUH) It is interesting!!! You can check it on the internet!!!! I just want to talk about the uniqueness of the Arabic word for God “Allah” according to the people of the Arabic language: It has neither diminutive nor plural. Allah transcends duality and gender.
And let’s look at what the Quran say: And verily We have raised in every nation a messenger, (proclaiming): Worship Allah and shun false gods (16-36) Were you (O Muhammad SAW) present when death came to Jacob, when he said unto his sons: What will you worship after me? They said: We shall worship your God, the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac, One God, and unto Him we have surrendered (submitted)” (2-133) Thank you for reading, and I’m sorry if it was too long. Allah ma’akoom (God be with you) Salaam alaikum (peace be upon you) Muhammad.
