Crammer Q?!

a. A prose or verse composition, especially one telling a serious story,that is intended for representation by actors impersonating thecharacters and performing the dialogue and action.                                                                                                     – why do we put “the” before “dialogue” but we do not put it before “action” ?                                                                                                         – Is “action” a countable word, here in above?
