The Internet has been disrupted here for the past few days. I guess the Chinese government disagrees with you, lobsang!

I loved the comment from one of the guys on the Olympic committee, who said that the committee had hoped that giving the Games to China would encourage it to improve human rights. Whoops!

Why?

China brought Tibet secular education- the greatest gift any people could ever receive.

Yes, greater than "freedom", because without a secular education, more than just the body is "in chains"- the mind is.  Dogmatic thought is the worst horror humanity faces, because it does horrors upon us all- a man (or woman) can never be free in body lest he is first free in mind.

lobsang…..

even if tebet is a troop  ..or v small country or..have uneducated people….....that never prevent it to get its freedom….

i agree with you…freedom is for all ….and for tebet too…i hope u will get ur freedom like kosovo  ..

and tebet's loyalty should not to be to any country ..

i surprised ….did AMERICA achieve its goal to create a new iraq…????

theres two kinds of colonalization…

one country occupied your area for a greedy need and remove your culture to replace it's culture instead …

and one country occupied your area for a greedy needs  but cant establish it's culture there…

the both way is unacceptable ….

every area has it's specialty  ...traditions cultures…blood…

those people who support occupation they dnt know the meaning of tradition….lobsang…it is better to ask people who are firmly rooted more ten thousands of years in their country ….only them can support you because only them know and feel the meaning of the land  ..the homeland ….

not those who dismissed people from their own country and stay there …...

All I want to say is:

Please learn the Tibet history thoroughly before passing your judgment about a nation you have been misled in centuries….

"Blakerieger, do you like tha China destroy Tibetan culture?"

China has no economic interest in destroying Tibetan culture, merely reforming it.  China is obviously very proud of her cultural diversity- it's advertised all over the television there.

"Tibetans have their faults, but don't deserve being  killed by the Chinese army."

Not if they aren't attacking Chinese soldiers, no.  I think it would be irresponsible to the people of Tibet who want to remain with China to dump the province.

"You Americans killed a lot of American Indians in the past."

Native Americans.  Yes, they did.

"You attacked Irak and so you are in favour of China in this issue"

I did not attack anybody.  I'm in favor of China on this issue because I think it's what's best for both parties- the deed is already done.  Clearly many Tibetans want to remain with China- many have even left Tibet- what do you think the reason for that is?

MarkChina,

"They certainly did in the Soviet Union and do in Cuba."

Castro did a lot of very good things for Cuba.  He wasn't perfect, but I have quite a bit of respect for the guy.

No matter what kind of propaganda you throw on top of it, a secular education is the cornerstone of free thought- state worship is only as strong as the state it, religion is very nearly impermeable.
