Poland

I'm interested what taxes are You paying in your country?

In Poland in 2008 the amount of taxes was:
if your income was < 14.833$ tax = 18%
if your income was  < 28.500$ but > 14.833$ tax was 30%
if your income was > 28.500$ tax was 40%

in 2009 we will have only two thresholds
if your income will be  < 28.500$  tax will be 18%
if your income will be > 28.500$ tax will be 32%

if You have no time to read whole post just finish here and please write how looks tax thresholds in your country.

############here You may finish reading############

but if You have few minutes You may read whole story.

polish government is champion in creating&hidding another&another&another taxes. Yes we have 1 place in the world in amount of hidden taxes.
President R.Reagan mocked that "Politicians believe that everything which is not running out on the tree should be taxed". He,he. funny?
Not too much for polish because in Poland that mockery have become fundamental principle of governance.

According to the Ministry of Finance shows that the Polish taxpayer is charged 54 tributes, including ten kinds of specific taxes, six salary contributions and several dozen charges of different nature (concessions, permits, certificates)! If added to the charges legislated by the self-governments (such as the so-called. climate charges ), the list of Polish tributes grows up to hundreds.

For example:
we are the only country in the world where cosmetics are treated as luxury goods and covered the 10-percent excise tax.

We are the only country in the world where if you want pay tax you have to… pay tax – if you want become VAT taxpayer you have to pay 50$ tribute.

latest invention of our gov is "cinema tax" (which is added to ticket price) – reportedly created for cinema industry development.

we are also paying "highway tax" (which is added to petrol price). Now after  15 years of paying this tax we have about 100 km of highways …no comments

he,he. funny? not too much…

if someone is interested please ask – I will share more details…

In my country there isn't taxes but we pay every year some money  to poor people .

 4000 SAR  ÷ 40 = 100

So if I have this year  4000 I will pay just 100 SAR

India

ha ha,Tom, I thought those were only in India,

"Cinema" Tax , and what we call entertainment tax have been here for many years!!

Here for men, there is no tax till 3250 Dollars, there is no tax,

For women it is 4500 dollars (hey isn;t this sexual discrimination??)

There are hundresds of tax slabs 8,12,15 20 and 33% tax.

Indian politians can open a consultance firm for ways to tax people

Also remember tax is a necessary evil.

More the tax, more the people struggle.

less tax, people will suffer again. (This is for normal economy though, and not oil based temporary economies)
