what is the best film which is made from novel (or book)?

i've seen some films that is made from novel but they are all not as good as the book

A good examples of great movies of great novels:

I think the thorn bird is made as well as the novel ,although it is made shorter but it is exactly effective like the book.

Twilight

I had thought the book with more detailed decription is better than movie, but when I saw film once again, I think the movie as good as book, even more impresive.

The Reader

I have not read the German original book, the film is much impresive. I like young Michale.

I believe there is nothing better than a book but some movies based oh books are really good. In my opinion The Lord of the Rings is very impressive.
