Having “a lot to live up to” is the same as having big shoes to fill. It means that a job was done well by one person, but now somebody new has to do it, and he/she is expected to do the same good job that was done before.


Ex: My old piano teacher prepared excellent recitals with her students. Now I have a lot to live up to with my students.
