question related to 'sound' verb

arvindgiri

India

Hi,

Does below expression sound ok?

“No matter how much we blow the damaged whistle, it won’t make any sound”.

Can it be expressed differently. Do we have any word (specially verb) to express sound of whistle.

Thanks

Arvind

Hi Arvind,

Your sentence sounds fine. “No matter how much we blow the damaged whistle, it won’t make any sound.” The verb used with a whistle is also whistle, so it might sound strange to say, “No matter how much we blow the damaged whistle, it won’t whistle.” ;-)

I think your original sentence is OK!

Best,

Amy
