Madonna's Divorce

When you’re famous, everything you do gets exaggerated in the media. If you get a little drunk, suddenly you’re an alcoholic. If you give someone a hug, suddenly you’re sleeping together. And if your spouse appears unhappy in public? Clearly you’re getting a divorce.

For the last couple of months, there have been (untrue) rumors that Madonna and her husband, Guy Ritchie, are getting a divorce. The media was so convincing that Jason believes the couple is breaking up. Listen to him tell Marni about it.

Jason

Marni

Jason: Dude, you know who I thought had it all together?

Marni: Who? Me? Just kidding. We all know I don’t.

Jason: No, Madonna. She looks great.

Marni: Yeah! Going on 50.

Jason: She’s doing yoga. Just seems to have a really great life. So why did she get divorced?

Marni: What!?

Jason: You didn’t know?

Marni: She and Guy Ritchie?

Jason: Yup.

Marni: No! That totally bums me out. I totally felt the same way.

Jason: Really?

Marni: Yeah, they’re this cool, super cool couple. She’s a little older. I like that. I think that’s a really good idea. They seemed like this totally cool couple that had it all together.

Jason: So you don’t have any idea what could have caused it?

Marni: Well, I’ve been hearing tales of her hanging out with Alex Rodriguez, the Yankees player.

Jason: That’s so crazy. You figure at age 50 you stop trying to play the field, maybe.

Marni: Ha! Literally.

Jason: Yeah. And you just kind of settle down. You’ve got a good thing going.

Marni: Yeah, you’ve got kids, you’ve got…

Jason: More than half your life is over, just ride it out.

Marni: Well, she just signed some insane contract with, I think, Sony Music. I’m not totally sure. So her career is going great. I mean, no problems. And I’m like, “That’s awesome, Madonna, you’re 50 and your career is just better than ever, blowing up.” And maybe Guy Ritchie’s films aren’t commanding such an interest. I don’t know.

Jason: That does cause tension in a celebrity couple, when one side is more successful than the other.

Marni: For sure, but still, I really liked them together.

Jason: I mean, Gavin and Gwen can stay together.

Marni: Exactly. Certainly one of them is more successful.

Jason: Yeah for reals. Who knows. But I guess that means I have a shot now.

Marni: With Madonna?

Jason: Uh-huh.

Marni: Maybe we all do.

Discussion

Neither Marni nor Jason can believe that Madonna would get a divorce. It just doesn’t seem to make sense. She looks great and has a strong career, but come on, she’s 49. Why doesn’t she just stay married?

Apparently that’s her plan for now. Despite the fact Jason seems to think she’s already divorced, Madonna has said she and her husband are staying together. Do you believe their marriage will last?

For the first time I started to appreciate Madonna in her leading role in the film ‘Evita’.In my opinion each actor and actress are born to play their very role only once,Madonna has been born to play Eva Perron,the rest of madonna performances can be neglected but not Evita!
