It’s probably the most important question you could ever ask or be asked: “Will you marry me?”

Some people like to get creative with their proposals. You can have a plane sky-write the question or ask it on the big screen at a sporting event. Some proposals come at quiet, romantic moments and others at big parties.

Mason recently proposed to his girlfriend, and Dale wants to hear all about it. Find out if she said yes!

Dialog

1. Listen and Read - Listen to the audio and read the dialog at the same time.

2. Study - Read the dialog again to see how the vocab words are used.

Dale

Mason

Dale: So Mason, I heard this as a rumor because I like to listen in. You popped the question?

Mason: I…yeah. I popped the question. I asked my girlfriend to marry me a few months ago. But it’s funny. I knew I was going to do it for a few months and it’s the kind of act that only hopefully do once so you think about what the right way to do it is and there’s all these different interpretations of how that goes.

Dale: Did you provide a diamond ring?

Mason: I had a rock that my mom gave me so that was what I used to do the act, but we ended up getting a different ring.

Dale: Was she taken off guard?

Mason: She had no idea that it was coming and I did in front of a bunch of people so she absolutely had to say yes or look horrible. That’s definitely how I played it safe.

Dale: Did you get on one knee? That’s…I think that’s what most women like to hear, “Did the guy actually get on one knee?”

Mason: I did. I did cliched-it-up, which seemed to work, so tried and true is the way to go apparently.

Dale: Oh. You planned it out?

Mason: It ended up being fairly spur of the moment, but when the time is right, you’ve to seize those opportune moments.

Discussion

Dale heard that Mason proposed to his girlfriend, so he asks him if it’s true. It is! Dale wants details.

Mason says his proposal was fairly traditional. He got on one knee with a ring. He borrowed his mom’s ring and then picked out a new one with his fiance later. Mason also asked his girlfriend to marry him in front of a lot of other people so that it would be harder for her to say no.

conundrum Pakistan	it wasnt a good proposal at all… mason accepted this fact himself that he did it in front of bunch of people so she had to say yes… reply to a proposal isnt done in haste or conditionally saying yes coz u r fearing from the situation when every one else is watchin you :)

gitzuL Indonesia	mmm,i am so on it. every woman i guess, wants a memorable proposal which hopefully will only happen once and for all. from what i see, it is a natural and so convincing when a man knee for a proposal.it wont be a burden that disgrace or degrade one's dignity.. so for those who are too haughty to knee to propose, you havent found the one..!

aliyatul_hikmah Indonesia	I don’t consider it’s serious proposal if the one just ask to me. SO, If from myself I accept him, I will ask him to ask it toward my parent. :) ... I think it’s not only beautiful moment as other thought. Sometimes it’s difficult moment when the one who come to us ask about it n we have not ready for it or can not accept him coz some reasons. Well! Hopefully the one who ask us to get marry with him is the one that we hope it too… I believe, when I deny him, it’s just because Allah has other planning. He’s created to be the best to someone else n I’m also created to be the best to someone else. THEN when I accept him,it’s just because Allah has fixed it. It’s deep secret from Allah that has been written before we life in this world.
