Yoga is originally from India, but now many people in western countries practice yoga as a form of exercise. Yoga is made up of different poses that stretch your muscles and make you more flexible over time. You don’t need a lot of special equipment to do yoga, you can begin with just a yoga mat to practice easy poses.

The best part about yoga is that it can be as easy or difficult as you want to try. All yoga teachers tell their yogi students to only do what is comfortable to them. Many people who do yoga feel that it is very therapeutic and relaxing.

Rafael and Marni are talking about doing yoga. Why are they interested in yoga? Learn more in today’s English lesson.

Rafael:  You know what’s so therapeutic to do in the morning and in the evening?

Marni:  Do tell.

Rafael:  Yoga!

Marni:  I used to do yoga all the time. Gosh, I haven’t done it for ages.

Rafael:  OK, how flexible are you? Because I can tell by looking at you that you have good posture, but I can’t tell what kind of crazy poses you can do.

Marni:  Well, I used to be able to do all kinds of crazy poses, but I haven’t done it for a while, and I feel like you lose your agility.

Rafael:  Sure, sure.

Marni:  I don’t know. It would be interesting to see, but I’m kind of scared.

Rafael:  Right now I’m just trying to absorb the knowledge. Trying to learn the positions backwards and forwards.

Marni:  Sure. Yeah, absolutely. Stretching is so good for your body. Doing yoga, consciously breathing. It sounds good. I should try it some more, huh?

Rafael:  Well, let me just recommend that you can start yourself off with a nice downward dog.

Marni:  I just might do that. Some sun salutations. Alright, I’m going to take your advice. Hopefully it will relax me.

Rafael:  Alright. See you later, fellow yogi.

Rafael and Marni both agree that practicing yoga can be very therapeutic. Marni used to be able to do many different yoga poses. But since she has stopped doing yoga regularly, she is a little scared of trying again.

Rafael wants to become a yogi, and he will begin by learning more about yoga poses. Marni tells him that yoga is really good for your body, and can help with being flexible and with your agility.

Do you practice yoga? Is there a yoga pose that you would like to try?

Many years ago, when ı was in Germany,ı was visiting a church in Munich..I saw a girl were sitting in a bench ,in the church courtyard..her eyes closed, her legs was in her laps and her adjacent hands in front of her face..she seemed far away from the world with deep trans mood.

ı was surprised, ı thought she was praying ..

maybe she went from other planet as an alien to our blue earth.

I haven’t practice yoga yet. Unfortunately I don’t know yoga well and so it seems a mystic thing for me. But I believe that it can be useful for your soul and body .

Namaste to all . Although it is highly recommended i havent`t tried Hatha Yoga ,but i like to practise meditation as a way to sooth my mind , let me tell you that it works most of the time with me.  In ancient India  Yoga asanas or postures were teached to strenghten the body and mind as a means  to undergo austerities that were required to  follow a strenuous spiritual life. With a weak body and mind  it would had been impossible to reach the goal. This is what I have read about Hatha Yoga and the necessity of a healthy body.

I have been doing yoga since my young ages and this kind of exercizes gives lot relax for body and rises mood even, cause when you feel when body becomes more flexible every day after doing yoga  it gives you great satisfaction. And doing yoga regularly helps to keep your body in good condition  for many years. You can spend lot time in gyms but it will exhaust  your body phisically, but doing yoga for some minutes will make your body flexible and same relaxed.

Most of the time I’m worried that my life is too work-heavy. It’s also a fact that I find it hard to balance my mind and body during that stressful time by doing physical exercise, especially now during the dark winter months. With yoga – I think I am doing my body and mind a favor by giving them some “me-time”. It’s a really good and healthy way to unwind and relax.

I like a quick sun salutation in the morning or the half cobra pose. The Dancing Shiva and the Plow pose are effective poses to reduce or eliminate my back pain. To wrap this up…anything that gets you moving is beneficial for your body….and mind.

 Shanti everyone ;)

A student went to his meditation teacher and said, “My meditation is horrible! I feel so distracted, or my legs ache, or I’m constantly falling asleep. It’s just horrible!”

“It will pass,” the teacher said matter-of-factly.

A week later, the student came back to his teacher. “My meditation is wonderful! I feel so aware, so peaceful, so alive! It’s just wonderful!”

“It will pass,” the teacher replied matter-of-factly.
