Miguel: Hey Tanis, my friend is visiting from Japan and I want to show her a good holiday movie. What should I show her?
Tanis: Oh, well, if you want a funny one I think you should do National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation[/def].
Miguel: Which one is that again?
Tanis: That’s the one with, um, Chevy Chase[/def] and he’s playing Clark Griswold[/def] and, and his family and it’s, it’s just kind of making fun of Christmas a little bit, but, it’s also has a heart-warming message at the end.
Miguel: Okay, so that one’s kind of edgy and crazy, right?
Tanis: Yeah, and it’s funny. It, it’s laugh-out-loud funny.
Miguel: What about something a little bit more traditional?
Tanis: Oh, well, I think the Christmas movie of all time is It’s a Wonderful Life[/def].
Miguel: So that’s a real old one right?
Tanis: Yeah, it’s black and white and, uh, Jimmy Stewart[/def] he’s um, he’s doubting, like, that his existence has meant anything on Christmas Eve and he’s thinking about committing suicide. And, um, an angel comes down from heaven and explains the difference that he’s made in some of these people’s lives.
Miguel: I’m not really into black and white movies. Is there something new you can think of?
Tanis: Yeah, uh, well, what about How the Grinch Stole Christmas[/def]? That was a big hit last, uh, last year.
Miguel: Oh, with Jim Carrey[/def]?
Tanis: Yeah, you know, I am embarrassed to say I, I didn’t see it, but we all know the story.
Miguel: Right. I think that one’s perfect. That’s what I’ll get for her.

Discussion
Tanis had some great suggestions for Miguel. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a very funny movie. When I visit my family for Christmas, we try and watch that movie together because we love to repeat and laugh at our favorite scenes.
It’s a Wonderful Life is a great feel-good movie. I try to watch it once before Christmas. It has such as good message about humanity and making a difference in life.
Have a wonderful holiday season!
Happy Christmas! Happy Hannukah! Happy Kwanzaa!
See you at the movies,
Zach
