Men and women were complaining since existence of mankind about not understanding each other. Well, this is true. Gender has an important role in differing the communication styles.

Studies and researches done by experts in this field shows that, men tend to be direct and assertive while women tend to use indirectness and try to build intimacy and solve problems by empathy.

In her book "Men & Women Closing the Gab", Jennifer Coutas studied both men and women discussion groups. Her findings were that women feel okay while talking about their privet lives, stick to one topic for along time, and they try to make everyone participate. However, Men do not like to speak about their privet lives. Instead, they prefer talking about sport, currant affairs, and traveling. Unlike women men tend to dominate the conversation and interrupt much more than women do.

Gender is the number one factor for these different communication styles. Men usually are direct and assertive. While women style is mostly about indirectness and establishing rapport. These differences are not something we can solve; the only way is to acknowledge these differences and to try to work with it.

we can solve it. just get rid of culture, tradition, religion and many things which determine you.

we are the same when we get the birth. but from the first days of our lives we are divided into two groups, women and men. we get a different upbringing. expectations toward us are different as well. we hear what women should and should not do. the same men. we hear what is feminine and what is masculine. this is everything unnatural, invented by people long ago. that makes that women and men differ. we were growing up in two different worlds...how can we communicate with each other then?!

yes, I know we won't get rid of them fast or even never...but we can get rid of stereotypes. we can grow up together. I'm sure that we will find a common language then.

I have no problems with communicate with men because I have been brought up with my twin brother together...and I can say women and men are very similar in everything and they really can understand each other. I think it's high time they should be able to do it. we live in XXI century!

hi,

a very intresting topic.

what i think is that men and women's communication depends on the subject they are talking about sometimes they do agree about some points which make it easy for them to get each others, directness and indirectness depends on what they are talking about.........depends also on their character and way of thinking...even tolerance play a big role in the conversation...

anyway  personally i don't find such a problem...hehe....just kidding

thanks for that intresting topic
