Tomorrow is May 28, it is the dragon boat festival of China too, so we shall have a holiday one day. the festival has been long history above 2000 years, the dragon boat festival was set up in order to commemorate Quyuan(屈原）who was a poet of enduring great patriotism in China, there is a interesting story.According to history recordation that Quyuan(屈原）was a minister in spring and autumn period(it is an age-old epoch in Chinese history, not only he sparkplug and elevated some wisdoms, but also he utmost aver and unite with Qi states to resist Chin state, so his advise let their country rich and strong, but his suggests were violent against, then he was excused his headship. at the same time he was evicted capital and banished at other drainage area. During he was banished, he wrote down many enduring poems regard at worrying about country and dumb millions, there are special characteristic in his poems, and people were affected by his poems. in B.C. 278 ,army of Chi state breached the capital of Chu state(the capital of Quyuan's country), Quyuan knew his country invaded by other country, he felt as if a knife were piercing his heart, and he always abnegated his country, after he wrote down his last poem(it is his last words written before death),he plunged into Boluojiang river with a big stone and then died in May 5 B.C. 278 (the date is Chinese lunar calendar), he composed a gallant and patriotism movement.After Quyuan had died, the common people of Chu state felt deep sorrow whopping, they ceaselessly came to the riverband to visit and ponder on the past Quyuan, fishermen rowed their sails in the middle of river to salvage his body, there was a fisherman brought out his rice and egg etc. and threw them into the river to give to Quyuan, the mean is that when the ichthyosaurs in river ate enough food they could damaged Quyuan’s body, after people see that, they ceaselessly are imitative of him. An old doctor brought a jar of king’s yellow wine and fell into river, it means to prevent and protect Quyuan’s body when the dragon in river was fainted by this wine, From that on, in order to prevent rice eaten by dragon in river, somebody packaged rice with the leaf of chinaberry and color silk, that is changing into Zongzi today. There are some customs about dragon boat game, eat Zongzi and drink yellow wine to commemorate patriotic poet(Quyuan) in the 5th day in May every year.(lunar calendar)
