Philippines

April 21, 2010

Thanks for those who read my blog. I really appreciate that you guys take time to view and read it.

And for those who added me as their friend, let's try something that will bridge our friendship to a closer one!

I'm from the Philippines, and I would like to share some sentences in case you want to visit our country and learn more about our culture. Here are some sentences that will be helpful(although you won't be having much of a problem here. Most Filipinos understand basic English. :) )

1.) Good Morning ! - Magandang umaga! (Say as pronounced. the letter a is pronounced like a as in auntie)

2.) Good afternoon! - Magandang hapon!

3.) Good evening! - Magandang gabi!(stress on gabi is on the second syllable)

4.) How are you? - Kumusta? (very similar with como esta in Spanish, since we were once a colony of Spain)

5.) Thank you! - Salamat po!(po here is pronounced like the word paw, not pow or sounds like bow)

How about you? Can you give me some feedback on what are the transalation of these sentences in your own tongue? I would love to learn some new words and new friends. :)

By the way, friendship in FIlipino is pagkakaibigan. :)

Cheers!
