To me it is a sad commentary when according to political terms of office, e.g., every four, six, etc., years, men and women spend so much time and money in trying to out nasty an opponent. I speak of presidential elections and all the hoopla that is associated with this good idea – democracy – gone array.   When campaigns spend more resources in less than a year than the GNP of many countries, to me this is an act of insanity, inhumanity, and arrogance – it is an act against anything trustworthy, loyal, or praiseworthy.   It is good that men set up forms of self-government, seeking out the best of its citizens to lead them, otherwise, we would have utter chaos in our streets – no one would be safe.  However, when we are willing to groom each other and ourselves for political gains (power) at the expense of life – I mean the lives of the children who live from day to day in our allies and the outskirts of our towns and villages, we show our insanity and our insensitivity to life.  There has to be a better way – there just has to be.  How dare a nation allow itself to spend so much time and effort in these elections when it is in debt to other countries for money borrowed?  If I am late for rent or a mortgage on my house, and I choose to spend my money on maybe travel, going to the movies, or eating out - I get evicted!  What say there be a system of collections as say many companies have for delinquent payments in that when a country has the resources to pay a debt, but due to maybe arrogance or an indifference to that debt they fail to abide by a loan agreement that that country has a collector sent to its government and is evicted from that government or even that country for non-payment?
