Which of the following phrases below is correct, or if both are grammatical are they of the same meaning, or what do they mean if they each have their own distinct significance?

I could care less. or I could not care less.

Yes, very good.

If I say that I could care less, it may suggest that maybe I don't care enough; that maybe I should be doing more to care more about... say, of others.

On the other hand if I should express something such as, "I couldn't care less", it may suggest that I have reached my level of caring, and that I could not care with any greater importance or significance than I have been caring - I have reached my level to care - which to me would be as a death to feeling.

"I could care less" expresses the WISH to change action in reality. "I wish I didn't care so much"

"I could not care less" means I've done all my best. "I cared very much"
