The difference between the freezing point and the melting point of water is said to be the same -- meaning, possibly, that the differences in temperature are so minute as to be considered the same.  So it is with hate and love -- I would suggest that whether we hate or whether we love is so closely related that the differences cannot be so easily measured - but the results are as liquid water to ice.
