I have been greatly criticized -- almost hated -- for saying, "I don't care about the others."  Let me put this into context, and then let you decide if you will hate me too.  When I have said this, it has been in the line of my work as a 'teacher.'  Many times I will have a few students who simply don't care to learn.  So my point in saying this is to suggest that if a person doesn't want to learn, who am I to care more than the person who doesn't care about his or her learning?  I mean, as a person, of course I care, but if, for example, I am a host at a party, and all I have is one certain brand of chips to serve, and a guest wants another brand or flavor, should I get all worked up and worried if I don't have what this one person wants?  No, I have what I have, and I am happy to serve it.  However, if I can't satisfy others with what I have, then I don't care 'what the others might think or possibly want' -- it's not an act of any mal intent -- it's simply that I don't have what they want.  I care that they are my guest, and I am sorry that I can't serve them what they want -- but, yeah, that's it.  As a 'teacher,' I offer what I know, and if someone doesn't care to use what I have learned, then, yeah, I don't care that they don't want to take what I have to offer -- I won't be offended -- they are still 'good' people.   So when I have a handful of students who want to learn what I am sharing at the time, and the other students want to learn or do something else, "I don't care."  I plan to stick with my lesson pan. And yes, they are still 'good' people; it's just apparent that I don't have what they want.   Now some will still suggest, "Maybe it's the implied content of my saying, "I don't care." that offends people.  What other wording would you suggest that I use in place of, "I don't care."?
