Greetings Everyone!

This blog is written to introduce you to the culture and daily life of the United States.

Because the American society is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural one,  I will focus on the common items that transcend the many cultures and the experiences that Americans encounter in everyday life.  The society is very diverse, therefore, the blogs I write will not apply to every person, but in a general sense.  Hopefully enough information will be provided to help you imagine that "You Are There!"

Yocriz,

That is a very good question and one that can be answered by each individual once I start writing the blog and readers begin to assess the information.  For now, the bottom line is this: wages may be higher in the United States than some countries, however, living expenses can be higher.  Many in the middle class are struggling to pay for housing, car notes, child care, insurances, fuel expenses, food costs, education, etc.

People in the lower class struggle to get from point A to point B, clothing, food costs, rent, utility bills, etc.  Income below approx. $25,000/year for a family of 4 places you in the lower class.

In the majority of places in the United States, you need a car, because there isn't any public transportation except in the cities/suburbs and would consume a lot of time to get to your destination.

In my first blog, I'm planning to write some statistics and basic facts about the United States and develop from there.  I provided this brief information because you asked the question, thanks!

Dear Mapleleaf,

I have taken to heart your feedback and want to thank you for your thoughts.

I plan to adjust myself accordingly and write the blog.  Oscar and everyone else, thanks for your input.  On with the show!

I've been writing a blog for over three  years here on Ebaby. I don't hold people to ransom. Your attitude is counter-productive to the goodwill on this site. Write the article, if you feel up to it. Don't, if you don't. This is a site where people help each other. If you don't feel like helping, maybe you could start your own pay site and make a few bucks there. I've met some absolutely wonderful people on Ebaby and I'll continue to offer my services for free without asking for anyone's opinion, either yes or no.

Secondly, while you may write for the teacher's forum here on Ebaby, I would question your grammar in many of your posts here. I'm not a teacher but I can certainly pick out poor grammar when I see it. If you can't write proper English, I wonder what kind of lessons the people here at Ebaby are getting from you?

While this may sound offensive to you, your comments concerning the students here on Ebaby are equally offensive. This site is full of eager English students, many of whom can't string together a sentence but are desperately trying to learn. Help them out, for goodness sake. Don't pick at them.

Thanks Irene for your thoughts, many of us Baby Boomers have an affection for life in the USA in times past.  However, it's not really relevant for young people today except for information sake, therefore, unless there's a significant amount of requests for it, I'll probably not bother with including it, this of course is if there is any significant demand for it at all.

Have a Happy New Year to all!

Hello, dear Englishteacher.

I suppose it`s a great idea to write  a blog about life in USA.

All aspects will be  asked for.

But to my oppinion, it would be interesting  only in comprisingof  the nowdays period.

My opinion is not a dogma.:))  That`s only my thinking.

Have only great days in your life, dear friend.

Irene

Dear Oscar73,

I appreciate your feedback and you've made a really good case, you would make a good attorney!  However, nothing is totally free in this world, it's without charge to my readers but it will cost me in time.  Therefore, I think it's reasonable to expect a response from those who want to know something and if over 300 people can read this request and not spend the time to write, indicates it's not important enough for me to invest my time in writing it.

Concerning your comment of my suggestion that people are afraid to write, I offer my apology to anyone who was offended.

Thanks Meyra for your continued support in this blog and the "Understanding American English Phrases" blog in the Teacher's Forum.

My criteria for the 25 people stands.

Have a nice day everyone!

dear englishteacher:

If u want more rating you should start to write even a short subjects … and your  program will "start up" , u must start with something …..and don’t tell people that they  r afraid of something , because we r not just sitting and waiting for your articles and posts.

Thanks for all who have responded, it seems to me it would be a good tool to have a more detailed knowledge of the society of the language you're studying.

However, the response level is very low.  If you are a serious student of English and read this appeal and do not answer the call, that is a fundamental problem in your learning of English or anything!  It is not a matter of being embarrassed of not knowing how to write English, it could be a one word sentence of "Yes!"  I encourage you to develop a challenging spirit, what we call being a "can do" person.

The alternative is to be locked into a self-imposed prison.  Stop and write!  Your part is easy, my part requires a lot of work on top of my other work.  It is a minimum requirement of you. If you do not write, I have identified a major reason why most of you are struggling to learn English, you are afraid!  Your fear is paralyzing you!  I also am writing an article on "The Power of Fear" it should be posted when I'm finished.  Until then, take the time to write, now!

There have been 100 people who have viewed this posting.  3 have responded with yes, and 97 have responded with no but their silence.

If at least 25 people will respond, I'll consider taking the time to write this new post.
