Indonesia

October 26, 2009

I wrote this blog for someone on English baby from Magadan, Russia who sent me emails to practice English and he's eager to know more about Indonesia, I would love to share everything I know about my beloved country Indonesia.

Indonesia is an archipelago, we got thousand of islands, I don't know exactly (I gotta visit some websites to find out..haha). We live in a such diverse of cultures. We got thousand of traditional languages, dancing and art works.

I was born in one of the biggest island in Indonesia, called Borneo Island (which is stand for East, West, North and South Borneo) at east part (this island is famous of its forests). So I can speak East Borneo traditional language named Bahasa Banjar. My mom was born in Java Island (another big island), so I also understand her language, named Bahasa Kediri. My dad was born in Sulawesi Island (again..another big island) I know Bahasa Bugis language. And I was grown up in Bandung , another big city in West Java, we use Sundanesse Language. See...there are so many languages that I've known just from my family tree, but we got Bahasa Indonesia as our nation language.

Indonesia has its own beautiful scene..like beaches, mountains, seas...and it's also growing fast in its development.

It's Paris? No it's Lapangan Banteng in front of my office in Jakarta

Is it Hongkong? No It's Thamrin at Jakarta

Pedestrian in US? No, it's in Makassar, Sulawesi

Like in Europe right?

It's not New Zealand, It's Komodo Island

Feels like in Monaco right? No..it's in Bunaken

Looks like in Africa? No..it's in Kidul Mount

Looks like Manhattan right?

There won't be Spiderman, because it's not in New York

Like in Singapore right? It's Gramedia (book store) in Surabaya, Java

Like in Swiss villages?

Excellent July, you have so many regional languales, and the most interesting thing is you can speak so many kinds of language.

In China we have a lot of dialects too, but I only can speak a few.  The one my howmtown guy speaking, and the Chinese mandarin which is the national language. my husband's howetown speaks another language I can not understand. Now I am working in the city they speaks another dialect called Cantonese. Hongkong people speak Cantonese too. I can understand but cannot speak.
