Hello/Ni Hao anyone and everyone,

I have now been in China for ten days, and start teaching on Monday. It has been a whirlwind first week and a half in Tangshan, China. The people are so friendly and I really need to get to grips with Mandarin, but it is so hard!

The kids at the school (Tangshan Oriental Bi-Lingual School) are all very excited about my arrival, I spent the last week watching lessons undertaken by Andy, an English Teacher who has been here for a year. At the end of the lessons I signed autographs for all the class and it was really cool and different for me.

I am teaching children aged 3-16, 24 lessons a week and can't wait to get started. I am here for 11 months and may stay longer if I like it! I get stopped for photos with people in Tangshan, which is crazy, I am not used to this! The food is great, prices cheap and I am really enjoying my start to life here in P.R China.

I am here with, Michael, also 21. He is a friend of mine from England and we are here together for the year and can't wait to help the students improve their English and also travel to places like Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

I just can't wait for Monday now. Anyone reading, I am happy to help their English learning and I am always free for a chat. If someone could help me with Mandarin, that would be awesome! Anyway, that's all from me for now.

Zai Jian!

Ha, really? Well I do what I do! In all seriousness, China would be a great place for anyone to visit. Also, if you are looking to travel the world, China borders no less than fourteen countries so it makes a worthwhile stop on the way to many other interesting places.
