Vanhallo

Sweden

November 19, 2007

In Sweden we are currently starting to introduce "Eco driving" more and more. Anyone heard of that expression? Anyway this means that you have to think about how you drive. Are you wasting to much fuel? Are you keeping the accelerator down even if the lights turn read?

Eco driving means you have to, for example, release the accelerator when approaching a red light and try to keep your speed down and time the light so you don't have to stop. If you stop for a red light you're standing still on the same spot and wasting some fuel. Logically that is not good for mother nature. And yes cars that stand still do also produce gas as long as the engine is running so don't argue with me about that, thank you.

This is actually a BIG DEAL. Unless you haven't noticed there are noticeable effects of global warming today. For example I can say that last year in october you could go around in t-shirt in Sweden. Usually it's fairly cold during that time. It could even start snowing a little. As it is now the snow comes alot later then I'm used to.

I was out on a bike ride earlier today, I slipped and fell and at the same time I started to think of something. Something that probably wouldn't make much of a difference but to show that people actually cares about their host mother Earth. What I was thinking about was one day where everybody just stopped and turned off their vehicles. And just let them be for one whole day. Of course that wouldn't include ambulances and firetrucks and so on. But still if there could be a day where everybody just let their cars be in order to pay some respect to mother earth that's suffering from a terrible fever at the moment.

That's just something that hit when I fell of my bike. (I'm allright by the way)

Cheers!
