Life for me ain't been no crystal stair.
It's had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor—

But all the time
I'se been a-climbin' on,

Thank you for the meaningful and touching poem, dear Firass. Yes, Mother's words: " life for me ain’t been no crystal stair" are so true. Never give up while climbing up even when you feel alone. The only way is to go ahead, and you will be surprised how much strong you are when there is nobody to give you a hand.
