I think that words with pictures and links leading to info about the subject chosen are very helpful. You can read the texts chosen later and enjoy urls' sharing with friends and other people. Here's been the sample of such a site where you could train yourslf in learning the language of your choice some years ago, but I'm sorry to say the links are dead.
