The fact about ‘Wat’ in old Thai culture is, not only it is a place for spritual and sacred purposes but also it is considered as a center of basic educational purposes as well.
In a very old days when there was no modern school. Many men (since at young age, like 7-8) in that period get education from Wat. They learn to read and write Balee and Sanskrit and Thai language from monks.
Thai massage is modified from Yoga which is from India, the brith place of Buddhism.
Actually, Yoga is considered as philosophy or science to maintain heathy condition for ..ascetics and monks.
And the ancient scripts about Yoga and traditional medicine were transfered along with the Buddha’s teaching.
