‘Domradio’ says that this week more than 10 people were murdered and one was gravely injured when some Roman-Catholic communities all over Burkina Faso were attacked by Catholophobic people. They say that generally-speaking resentments against the Roman-Catholic minority seem to slowly increase among Burkina Faso’s people.

This week the German TV-show ‘Gesundheitsblatt’ gave tips how to get rid of even dangerous pests:
>Having some cloves and citrus fruits around keeps flies – even those that cause malaria – away as these animals can’t stand that smell. Note that in Burkina Faso, Angola, Mozambique, Mali and others malaria is a very common cause of death.
>Mice – a real problem in most cities in Burkina Faso – can’t stand the smell of clove powder either. Alternatively you may also use chili powder or cloth soaked in sugarless sorts of vinegar.
>Ants may not be the biggest trouble people have in these countries, but they can be chased away by using cinnamon, the juice of citrus fruits, laurels, tea tree oil, the shell of citrus fruits, the smell of eucalyptus or clove powder. Please note that some of these also help against flies and that eucalyptus can be used against insect bites or stings as well.

Already last week the German TV-channel ‘WDR’ broadcasted a documentary movie called ‘GROßE MARKEN VS: FAIR FASHION’ (Great Brands vs. Fair Fashion). There in fact are many alternatives to clothes made of cotton – which is often a child-labor product produced in least developed countries like Mali, Burkina Faso. In fact there are producers of clothes made of plastic fiber, wood fiber, sheep cotton, bamboo, bottle fiber, hemp, soybean fiber, silk, polyster, linen or nylon. It’s just that most people never heard of the producers (e.g. Tshirt.in, Wijld…). This means the producers need their clothes to be expensive to cover the costs of the production. This leads to even some of those who know about these brands not being able to buy them. As soon as there are more customers, prices will probably sink, but as long as there aren’t too many people to know about these cotton-free brands these clothes will not be available to a large public.

Today in church I heard that on December 24th and December 25th the Roman-Catholic church of Germany is going to collect money for “Adveniat”, an aid-organisation helping least developed countries.
--—-
Re-upload 1: Luckily there is a local aid-organization called “PASMEP”. They helped “Peulh” villages in one region by simply building a dairy with a huge freezer for them and arranging for every farmer to receive 45 ct per liter he sells to this dairy during those seasons that make cows produce more milk than an ordinary man or even an average family could use. Also the problem of the supermarket being too far away is solved as this dairy sells their products directly to the villagers. Other than that “PASMEP” also organized cow-keeping-classes for farmers where they learn how to treat their cows to have an optimal and regular production of milk.
By the way “PASMEP” also has a donor-account:
MISEREOR-Spendenkonto (Engl. ‘MISEREOR Donor-Account’)
IBAN: DE75 3706 0193 0000 1010 10
BIC: GENODED1PAX
Aktions-Nr.: 507707 Kinderfastenaktion (Engl. ‘Act-Nr.: 507707 Children’s Fasting Act)
Stichwort /Keyword /Use /Verwendung: PASMEP.
---------
Re-upload 2: “Burkina Faso
is one of the poorest countries in the world, landlocked Burkina Faso has few natural resources and a weak industrial base. About 90% of the population is engaged in subsistence agriculture, which is vulnerable to periodic drought. Cotton is the main cash crop.” [The World Factbook, U.S.C.I.A. 2009] If you want to learn about an organisation that helps and maybe even want to get involved, too, please visit the following website: “http://www.msf.org/msfinternational/aboutmsf/”.

The latest sample of the German Roman-Catholic magazine “Aktionsheft missio glauben – leben – geben” was about gold-mining in Burkina Faso. Did you know the following facts?
>The gold-mines are merely supported by some makeshift wooden pillars.
>Despite not wearing any special protection even underage miners are forced to work with toxic mercury.
>Children get forced into this work.
>Women and girls get forced to work as prostitutes for the miners. Many of them do so until they are too old for prostitution. They want to quit earlier, but don’t know how to get out of this business without their “bosses” punishing them and without ending up homeless.
>There are workers who encourage children and adolescents to run away from home and work as miners instead of attending school.
------
>The latest sample of the German Roman-Catholic magazine “Aktionsheft missio glauben – leben – geben” says that as in Burkina Faso many people still believe in witchcraft, mostly widows or women who don’t live with their husband and son anymore – which happens a lot as many men try to earn their living in foreign countries – often simply get murdered by people who blame them for a tragedy (a child gets lost, a young person suddenly falls very ill or even dies, drought, death of cattle…).
The latest sample of the German Roman-Catholic magazine “Aktionsheft missio glauben – leben – geben” says that in Village Artisanal (Burkina Faso) there is an artist who makes small decorative figures of the many pieces of iron waste people simply dump anywhere in this area instead of disposing off it properly by using a bin.
>The latest sample of the German Roman-Catholic magazine “Aktionsheft missio glauben – leben – geben” says that in Burkina Faso forced marriage still is a common practice – not depending on things like religion or ethnic group. Realizing that even some Roman-Catholics practice this form of marriage the Roman-Catholic church now does a lot to teach them that this is not in keeping with the doctrine of the Roman-Catholic church. Despite all these efforts some Roman-Catholics still say otherwise. So some Roman-Catholic abbeys also hide girls and women who fled from forced marriage. However these abbeys just lack the money. In fact they don’t even have enough money to feed themselves. At least the diocese Koupéla now reacted to the financial problems of its abbeys. They collect money for these abbeys to buy pigs for breeding and some items they will need to grow edible plants in the gardens of these abbeys. So God will will this be enough for them to eat and to sell some of it so they can earn some money they will need to provide for all these young ladies.
>The latest sample of the German Roman-Catholic magazine “Aktionsheft missio glauben – leben – geben” says that in Burkina Faso children often are send on the street by their own parents to sell baked goods, vegetables and fruits from the family’s garden. Sometimes things other than these are sold, too and sometimes children are kept from going to school so they can sell goods instead. However left alone with these goods surrounded by so many people they are more or less defenseless. Burkinan children already got robbed and even molested when they were left alone to sell stuff. The thing is that girls who got pregnant before finding a husband – even in case of molestation or rape – are seen as not profitable anymore by their families and they get abandoned, so the family can focus on getting the rest of their children through that are more likely to find a good husband and thus to have a secure future.
