Some voluntary workers hope that this story may encourage others from South Africa or its poor neighboring countries like Lesotho and Mozambique to be more inventive when it comes to planning their professional future – rather than passively accepting unemployment as their fate: “Tagesschau” says that two men in the capital of South Africa found a most unusual way to escape unemployment. They gave up an insert – later they made cheap advertisement other than that – in which they offered to paint people’s shoes using any motive the customer asked for. For example they already were asked to paint flowers, comic figures, portraits or even logos on the shoes people brought to them.
In South Africa the percentage of unemployed people is high compared to industrial countries.

“UNICEF” says that Lesotho is one of the countries with the highest number of AIDS-infected people in the world. Shockingly most of them are female, implying forced prostitution or sexual abuse. Also this disease is the most common cause of death among underage people in this country as only a very small (minimal) amount of these people have access to the medical support they would need. After all Lesotho is a LDC.
Also for today, 04.12.2016 at 6PM the Marienkirche in Reutlingen (Baden-Wuerttemberg /Germany) organized a beneficial gospel-concert to collect money for supporting “UNICEF”’s fight against AIDS.

“Domradio” says that in Johannisburg (South Africa) university students started some violent demonstrations that involve vandalism as a means of protests against problems this country has. Police officers try to get them under control with means that are just as violent. This started weeks ago and experts are slowly getting worried about whether or not this is going to affect the enclave Lesotho as this least developed country actually is surrounded by South Africa and economically-seen depends on this country as South Africa is a trade partner slightly wealthier than Lesotho itself.

On Tuesday the news show “Tagesschau” reported about the humanitarian aid organization “Habitat For Humanity International”. As implied by the name they build homes in poor areas in countries all over the world not making a difference between industrial countries, developing countries and least developed countries.
In Lesotho for example – where they also build save and hygienic small huts for the poor – 68% of the population is considered as poor AND living under unhealthy conditions. Due to an unusually high number of people dying of AIDS many underage people are left as orphans and street children and as homeless people they often end up spending their time in unhygienic (dirty streets), unhealthy (gas stations, dumping lots etc.) or even dangerous (girls being forced to earn their money as prostitutes in a brothel, boys joining criminal gangs and getting involved in criminal actions) places.
Another big issue that makes citizens of Lesotho lose their home according to “Habitat For Humanity International” is land-grabbing. Big companies from the EU and the North of America buy huge areas from developing countries to grow soy and other products there that are then used as food in feeding-lots from industrial nations all over the world. However the population of Lesotho does not cease growing and seeing how they can’t use the areas that are already property of these foreign companies it only makes sense that sooner or later there isn’t any more space left for citizens to live there.
As I already implied this aid-organizations builds small, but save and clean huts for people who have been homeless or residing under intolerable conditions for…let’s say not just a short period of time.

On March 23dt I went to the D.A.I. in Tübingen just to read the annotations on the bill-board there out of curiosity. A German organization that works against HIV worldwide had the following leaflet hanging there:
>All around the world almost 34 millions of people have got AIDS.
>In Germany we have 63.000 people – tendency probably increasing.
>In the East of Europe the number of infected people has doubled since the beginning of this decade.
>In Swaziland 40% of people suffer from AIDS making this the country with the highest percentage of infected people followed by Namibia with 35%. These two countries both are neighbored to Lesotho, meaning that there is a constant threat for Lesotho.

Re-upload: The website where I found this photo-“http://www.sentebale.org/home/HowToHelp.html”-belongs to a great organisation that helps street children from this very poor country and even gives YOU the chance of getting involved.
