The Silvery Pigeon - Back From the Dead

According to the “Sixth Extinction”-homepage, which is a reliable source if you ask me the silvery wood pigeon now finally went extinct for good. At least they should be functionally extinct by now.

Another bird that is volant and critically endangered: The red-vented cockatoo is to be found on the Philippine Islands.

They considered this columbidae to be extinct until some photos taken near Maskout Island in the year 2008 proved this theory to be wrong. However this means that they are at least critically endangered. Since then IUCN and WWF fight for this critically endangered animal’s survival.
