content vs.contented

天天eating

China

She seemed (to be) content(ed) to play a minor part in the play.

Qestion 1: Is the sentence with "TO BE" the same good as without "TO BE"?

Question2: Are content and contended both ok in this sentence and express the same meaning?

thanks.

1. yes, they both work just as well.

2. yes, they basically express the same meaning. There is maybe a slight nuance of difference, but not much.

to be content – I am fine with it, no problem.

to be contented – to have become fine with something, to have no problem now, after deliberation. to have resigned oneself to it.
