Well, this is an interesting question. It sounds to me like you are looking specifically for phrases relating to drama. I can give you a few general idioms or other phrases and then from there, you can think of ways to relate them to whatever subject you want.

'to be at home' or 'at home' – to be comfortable

Ex 1. Amy has always been at home when it came to acting. (Amy has always been comfortable when it came to acting.)

Ex 2. I thought this would be a difficult change for Peter, but he looks to be at home with his new part.

(I thought this would be a difficult change for Peter, but he looks comfortable with his new part.)

'to strike' – The verb strike has many meanings. One of them is 'to appear as being something, to think something about something else'. It relates to opinions and appearances. Almost always used with a direct object pronoun.

Ex 1. When Amy wears that dress, she strikes me as being some kind of princess.

(When Amy wears that dress, she appears to be some kind of princess.)

Ex 2. Amy doesn't want to work with John. He strikes her as being extremely immature.

(Amy doesn't want to work with John. She thinks he is really immature.)

Ex 3. I rejected the plotline. It struck me as being a bad idea.

(I rejected the plotline. I thought it was a bad idea.)

'A bit much' – excessive, more than necessary

Ex 1. Your arm movements were a bit much.

(Your arm movements were more than needed.)

Ex 2.  Doesn't another rehearsal strike you as being a bit much?

(Don't you think another rehearsal would be excessive?)

Ex 3. A bit much on the examples.

(More examples than necessary.)

'the eleventh hour' – the last possible moment

Ex 1. He always waits until the eleventh hour to do his homework.

(He always waits until the last possible moment to do his homework.)

Ex 2. My greatest regret was waiting until the eleventh hour to tell you I loved you.

(My greatest regret was waiting until the last possible moment to tell you I loved you.)

'off the beaten path' – different from what others are doing, unusual

Ex 1. His choice of gifts were somewhat off the beaten path, but Joyce thought they were romantic anyway.

(His choice of gifts were unusual, but Joyce thought they were romantic anyway.)

Those are just a few. I hope as you learn more idioms, you will learn when to use them.

Example with all five idioms.

Have you met my brother Jack? He's most at home when he's off the beaten path. One of the strange things he does is wait until the eleventh hour to enter an elevator. He always waits until a few moments before the doors close, then he sticks his hand in to make it open again. It strikes others as being a bit much, but he loves being known as the odd one.

English is very flexible and you can make your own idioms if you know what you are doing.
