The following books are all American classics. Each is considered to be one of the best novels ever written.
Their Eyes Were Watching God
During the 1930s, Zora Neale Hurston was the most popular black woman writer in the United States. Of Hurston’s fiction, Their Eyes Were Watching God is the best-known and most controversial. The novel follows the story of Janie Crawford, a woman living in the black town of Eaton, Florida. She has married three men and been tried for the murder of one of them. (amazon.com)
The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote the beautiful and simple novel The Great Gatsby in 1922. It’s Fitzgerald’s finest work and certainly the book for which he is best known. In the book, the self-made millionaire Jay Gatsby falls in love with Daisy Buchanan, who is already married, and tries to use his money to impress her and win her heart. (amazon.com)
The Catcher in the Rye
Since its debut in 1951, The Catcher in the Rye has been one of the best known books about adolescence. In the book, Holden Caulfield tells the story of a couple of days in his sixteen-year-old life, just after he’s been expelled from prep school, in a slang that sounds edgy even today. It captures the essence of the teenage experience of pain and alienation. (amazon.com)

If you like novels, you’ll love these three books. I think they’re all amazing and I would recommend them to anyone who is learning English.
