Sand storm in Riyadh - 12:10pm (10-03-2009)‏ - PIC

One of the strongest sandstorms to hit the Saudi capital Riyadh in decades has been filmed by a BBC viewer, Matthew Thomson.

Mr Thomson, who filmed this from his office on the 56th floor of Kingdom Centre, said the storm took around 10 minutes to pass over the city and reach his building.

He said: "In a matter of 30 seconds or so, visibility dropped from miles to just a few metres completely obscuring the view to the street below."

WOOOW IT,S VERY HORRIBLE

BUT VERY INTERESTING FOR ME BECAUSE I DON,T SEE IT

The sand storm reach my city before the sunset. I live in the eastern province

 this year we have many sand storms :(

one moment u have nice weather the other u'll be coughing 

we have new maid . It was frightening for her

Wow!!! It´s impressive the power of Nature!!!

You are the first person I have ever met that has faced such natural event!!!

I can understand why your maid quit. Maybe the excuse of being frightened was because she didn´t want to fix all the mess the storm left behind, hahahaha!

I wonder what are the consequences of such a sand storm?

Does it kill?

Does  it cover the roads and houses with sand?

Would you explain please?
