I never read his books but I've watched two movies made by his novels, I mean " The Shawshank Redemption " and "The Green Mile" both directed by "Frank Darabont". The first one is really a masterpiece and a good example of inner freedom and power of hope. First I watched it on TV but one time wasn't enough for such movie so I bought movie and still sometimes which I feel weak watch it. I really like the terminal scene, it's the real glorious victory.
