1. learn online, there are many sites who offer free language course, google it.

to make it easy to you, here you have  www.livemocha.com

subscrive and you can have portuguese courses from the begginer, till advanced ;)

2. make friends with anyone who can speak the language.

You can make friends with me! I'm a Portuguese from Portugal speaker! ;)

3. watch Portuguese movies (with english translation of course)

there are very few portuguese movies with english subtittles! but there must be some! ;)

4. listen to Portuguese songs

On youtube you can find alot of them :)

5. read your favorite novels/books in Portuguese

there are several of ebooks in portuguese ;D

6. try to visit Portugal or Brazil

hmm! it wont make you learn portuguese, just if you stay for long! ;D

7. enroll in a language course – Portuguese

8. study the language at least 9 hours a week

hmm!

OMG

you just gave me an idea for learning farsi! i was studying 1 hour per week x_x

that's why was not working!XD

It's not bad, Portuguese is a hard language for non-italic language speakers. For me, as a spanish speaker it is stupidly easy, but for a chinese speaker it must be REALLY hard

@Rosella

well there you've many other languages than portuguese!:D

so if you're interested to learn some of the languages they offer free lessons, exercices!

you can learn by writting, exercicing and you can even try oral speeches!

good luck

@ SantiagoC

LOL, people use to say the same about arabic or persian…but if you really love a language you learn it is easy ;)

@piriwinkle.chic

haha, yes that is what i want people to think! I love iran!

I'm impressed!I think google translator doesnt translate the hello to olá, since olá is mostly used in Portugal, and google translater uses portuguese from brasil :P
