when peole say"near and dear to one's heart"??

Since I always say"It's very important to me….."

Hi! "near and dear to one's heart" is the same as "very important to one." You can use either phrase at any time to talk about something that you care a lot about. But "near and dear to one's heart" is a bit more formal, and less commonly heard.
