I thought it was going to be really difficult to find a movie about volcanoes for volcano week. You know what? It wasn’t hard at all! The hardest part was choosing one that a lot of people had heard of or seen. This movie, Joe Versus the Volcano is a classic! Have you seen it?

Steph: What is it about Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan?
Cindy: I dunno. They’ve been in a lot of movies together.
Steph: I know. They have. Gosh! I mean, they were in what Sleepless in Seattle.
Cindy: Yeah.
Steph: Um, Joe Versus the Volcano.
Cindy: Oh yeah. That was a funny one.
Steph: That was totally funny. What was it about anyway? I mean, it was like so silly.
Cindy: It was about this couple and they got stranded on this island. And they were gonna get thrown into the volcano. And I don’t remember a lot of it after that, but.
Steph: How realistic is that?
Cindy: Not very, I guess. I mean, the volcano in this was, it was like the ones you see on TV and documentaries. There was all this red bubbling lava in the middle. And they were right on the edge of it. And you were, you were on the edge of your seat because you didn’t know if they were gonna get pushed in or not.
Steph: That’s pretty exciting. I guess that’s, ya know, it could bring people closer together.
Cindy: If you were on the edge of the volcano and you might get thrown in together? Sure.
Steph: Yeah. It’s like, ya know, your life flashes before your eyes and you think you’re gonna die and, you know, you fall in love.
Cindy: Sure.

Ok, I promise, no more Tom Hanks for a while. We’ve seen a lot of him lately haven’t we? It’s just that his movies are always blockbusters! But, anyways, what would you do if you were in this situation? To be stranded at the edge of a volcano sounds pretty scary to me. I think that I would just try to enjoy my last moments alive. And yes, I’d probably fall in love if I had the chance!
See ya!
Steph
