Steph: Hey, have you heard anything about Life Aquatic?
Liz: Oh yeah. Everybody’s lovin’ it.
Steph: Totally. Gosh, it’s been playing at the theaters here forever.
Liz: I know. I love that it’s been on for so long.
Steph: I know the comedy is, um, it’s a little bit hard to catch, but then in the end, ya know, if you pay attention it’s really funny.
Liz: Oh. That’s what I thought. And I just loved the guy who directed it too.
Steph: I know. What’s his name? I know his first name’s Wes.
Liz: Yes. Wes Anderson.
Steph: Yes.
Liz: He’s really cool.
Steph: Super cool. He did The Royal Tenenbaums too.
Liz: He did. Which is my favorite movie of the year last year.
Steph: Are you serious?
Liz: Mmmhmm. A lot of people didn’t quite get the humor sometimes, but I loved it.
Steph: Yeah. You’ve just gotta kinda, ya know, reach out and get it sometimes.
Liz: Totally.

Discussion
This director, Wes Anderson really knows what he’s doing. He’s managed to create movies that are both quirky and popular.
The humor in this movie is a little bit hard to catch, though. Do you think that this movie will do well internationally? Is humor hard to translate?
What do you think?
