After so much great feedback from all of you last week, I’m back with more of my favorite music selections. Speaking of last week, I found it interesting that almost everyone who wrote to me loved almost all of the music I suggested. However, there were quite a few of you who don’t like Pearl Jam. While they are one of the most popular American bands, they are also rock musicians, and they’re music is less accessible than some of the other’s.
This week, I’m focusing on artists I love who aren’t from the United States. All of them sing in English, but their backgrounds are varied, and so is their style.
More can’t-miss music!

* REGGAE (Jamaica)
Bob Marley/LEGEND
Bob Marley is simply the greatest reggae musician who has ever walked the planet. His music is unmatched and incomparable. Legend is a collection of some of his best songs, each of which display his unique ability to communicate pain, passion and hope for the future. “No Woman No Cry” is a perfect example of Marley’s expressive abilities. He sings of a painful past, and the need to “push on through” to a better place.
ROCK (England)
Radiohead/OK Computer
I’m listening to this album right now, as I write this, and I realize that it has a powerful affect on my emotions. Thom Yorke sings of fear, isolation and loneliness – things that overwhelm him in a world that is growing too fast and changing too much. Technology is supposed to make the world a better place, but Yorke feels like it’s turned people into boring robots, rather than healthy, creative people.
VOCAL (Canada)
Sarah McLachlan/Fumbling Towards Ecstasy
Sarah McLachlan* has one of the most beautiful voices ever given to a human being. She is capable of turning any song into a magnificent listening experience, simply because her voice is so wonderful to listen to.
In addition to her voice, Sarah is also a gifted songwriter. On this album, she covers complicated issues such as insecurity, abuse, fear and betrayal, and her eloquent writing makes them worthy of her voice.

I hope you get a chance to hear these albums. They contain some of the best music ever recorded, and I’ve spent hundreds of hours listening to them.
I’ll be back next week with more great music!
