However, three weeks ago Mariah suffered a serious emotional breakdown.

Nedra:  I was at the grocery store last night and I was standing in line and I looked at the National Enquirer and it said that, um, Mariah Carey’s having a breakdown.

Tanis:  Oh my gosh. I heard about that on the radio. I heard that she just has had a complete breakdown. She had to go to the mental hospital.

Nedra:  Yeah. It sounds like she’s just flipped her lid.

Tanis:  I can’t believe that. Do you remember when she came out and she was so… just so different than she is now.

Nedra:  She was a beautiful woman.

Tanis:  Yeah! I mean, she still is but it’s just really different and I guess that she was on her, uh, her website – just in the chat rooms rambling on and on and on to fans and not making any sense. And, and this came right after, um, she had some kind of bizarre appearance on Total Request Live[/def] with 60. I, I feel pretty sorry for her.

Nedra:  I do too. I hope she’s getting some help because she really is a talented person.

Tanis:  Yeah, she has a beautiful voice. It’s just uh, I guess the fame just gets to you after a while.

Nedra:  Yeah – high expectations.
