Why: Eminem was the most intriguing artist in the music business in the past year. Eminem continued to show that while his lyrics can be abrasive and offensive, he truly is a musical genius.
“Stan” is a unique song because it features the incredibly talented rapper Eminem and the singer with an angel’s voice – Dido. “Stan” tells the story of a crazed Eminem fan who commits suicide. The video perfectly captures the story told in the song. Watching the video is like watching a short movie.

Why: The Best New Artist award is one of the most important because it usually signals the beginning of a long and meaningful career in music for the winner. Past winners include Macy Gray, Eminem, Fiona Apple and Alanis Morissette.
Alicia Keyes will win the award this year because her song, “Fallin’”, is one of the biggest hits of the year, and because her video is brilliant.
Alicia is quite simply the most talented, most beautiful and most interesting nominee this year.
