Definition

1. Definition - Study the definition.

get serious, take something seriously; focus on something; do your best; do what’s most important

2. Use - Learn how the slang is used.

When you dig in, you really get serious about something. For example, if you want to learn English, you have to dig in and work really hard to understand the language. If you don’t dig in to your education, you’ll never be able to speak English.
You can use dig in to describe anything that you take seriously. Work, school, sports, hobbies and relationships are all things that you can dig in to. If you want to be successful in life, dig in to it!

Examples

1. Examples - Hear some example sentences.

””If I’m going to get all of my homework done, I have to dig in and concentrate for several hours.”“

””I don’t want to lose this game. Let’s dig in right now. Everyone play your best.”“

””You better dig in and get serious about your job. If you don’t, you’ll probably get fired. Your boss won’t want you around if you’re not working hard.”“

””Can you call me back later? I just started digging in to a book I have to read for my history class.”“
