Sound like the perfect man?
Everyone is looking for companionship. The bars and dance clubs are filled with single people looking for partners. When the bars and clubs fail, people turn to other resources, including newspaper personals, internet dating sites and matchmaking services such as Speed Dating and It’s Just Lunch. Mr. Right is out there, and it’s okay to get a little help in finding him.

Dave: Derek, I have a friend who’s doing speed dating this weekend.
Derek: Speed dating?
Dave: Yeah. Have you done it?
Derek: Ah, no. I’ve…I think I’ve heard of that. Isn’t that where you sit down and you talk with somebody for a certain time?
Dave: Yeah. Yeah, what they do is, they set up a room full of chairs and all the women sit in the chairs and the men go around to each woman. They have five minutes to speak to each person and then a bell rings and they have to move on to the next person.
Derek: Interesting.
Dave: Yeah, it is. I think it’d be a bit uncomfortable but many people have found, you know, the love of their lives by doing things like speed dating.
Derek: That’s interesting. Hadn’t really thought about ever trying that.
Dave: Have you ever used a dating service?
Derek: Ah, no, huh uh. How about you?
Dave: Ah, you know, I’ve tried some of the online dating sites but, you know, I’m too cheap to pay for them so I’ve never really had any good results.
Derek: I see. So, you pay for the quality.
Dave: Yeah, exactly, exactly. But, online dating sites are nice because you can pick out your ideal mate. You know, the perfect person for you.
Derek: So is it kind of like a checklist?
Dave: Kind’ve a checklist. You can say: ‘I’m looking for a blonde or a brunette,’ ‘Someone with blue eyes or green eyes.’
Derek: Yeah, or, you know: ‘Someone who’s intelligent,’ maybe.
Dave: Yeah. We all want someone who’s intelligent, don’t we?
Derek: Sometimes.
