Caroline (Kate Hudson) is a 25 year old home health worker. She answers a help wanted ad for a position caring for a stroke victim in the Louisiana Delta, a backwoods area outside of New Orleans whose inhabitants practice forms of cult worship and voodoo magic. When Caroline is given a skeleton key that unlocks all of the doors in the house, she discovers a secret room in the attic full of human hair, blood, bones and equipment for the practice of voodoo. But some secrets are best left undiscovered, and what follows is an eerie and haunting spin through the dark heart of the American bayou.

Dave:  There’s a movie coming out called The Skeleton Key with Kate Hudson.

Derek:  Yeah, I heard about that. It’s got…about the, ah, voodoo down in the deep South, isn’t it?

Dave:  Yeah, something about voodoo and ghosts. Kind of creepy.

Derek:  Yeah, it sounds actually kind of cool. You know, I was down there in the…in the bayous and I could see where these stories could come from.

Dave:  Oh, really? You’ve been down to the Louisiana Delta?

Derek:  Yeah, it’s really cool.

Dave:  Yeah, did you see any people practicing voodoo?

Derek:  Ah, no, I didn’t see any voodoo going on but, you know, apparently it’s all done in secret. The movie seems to indicate that as well.

Dave:  Ah, have you ever used a voodoo doll?

Derek:  Ah, no.

Dave:  No? You’ve seen them?

Derek:  Of course, yeah. They sell them in the bookstores now. It’s kind of funny.

Dave:  Yeah, it’s a big joke now. But, some people say that they really work.

Derek:  That is true.

I saw this movie a few nights ago. It wasn’t very good.
