2. Use - Learn how the slang is used.

Turn my back” is most often used to describe a negative change in a relationship. For example, you might turn your back on somebody who does something very bad to you. If you’ve had a relationship with someone, but you don’t want to have it anymore, you’re turning your back on the relationship.
Turning your back on somebody is a serious thing. Most people don’t do it unless they have a very good reason. Usually a person must go through a lot with another person before s/he will turn his/her back. For example, a child would have to be really, really, really bad before a parent would ever turn his/her back.

Examples

1. Examples - Hear some example sentences.

””Even though my sister and I had a huge fight, I would never turn my back on her. She’s my sister and I’ll always love her.”“

””Jeff and I aren’t talking anymore. We got into an argument about Michele, because he doesn’t like her. He thinks I shouldn’t be dating her. I really can’t believe he’s turned his back on our friendship because of a girl. It’s stupid.”“

””Don’t turn your back on me. I know I’ve been mean. I know I’ve been a bad person. But I still need you. You can’t leave me. We need each other.”“
