There’s something to be said for spontaneity in music. Back in 1987, Los Angeles five-piece Guns N’ Roses sobered up for few minutes to record songs like “Welcome to the Jungle” which caused kids worldwide to tear holes in their jeans. But since then everyone left the band except for vocalist Axl Rose, who with new musicians has been working on an album called Chinese Democracy for the last 10 years. It’s taking so long that a lot of people have stopped paying attention to GNR. Mason is among those who don’t seem to care about the band’s new material.

Mason

Marni:  So, uh, have you heard the new Guns N’ Roses track? It’s been leaked.

Mason:  There’s new Guns N’ Roses?

Marni:  Yes, yes, it’s like 10 years in the making, Chinese Democracy, Axl, you know. But Guns N’ Roses from the original band is only Axl Rose.

Mason:  Oh…I wonder who he sued to get the rights to do that.

Marni:  Well, yeah, I mean all that aside, Appetite for Destruction...

Mason:  It’s a classic!

Marni:  Classic!

Mason:  I searched for that like for so long because I had to own it on vinyl, it was a funny thing. And, yeah, so, that’s like one of my prized record possessions.

Marni:  That record came out 20 years ago, can you believe it?

Mason:  ...no kidding? You know and I have the foreign import cover.

Marni:  Oh, nice, because now you can’t get that.

Mason:  With like the crazy painting…yeah yeah yeah…But anyway…

Marni:  New Guns N’ Roses, just Axl Rose, actually one of the member is Tommy Stinson who used to play bass for the Replacements.

Mason:  Oh, that’s cool, the Replacements are awesome.

Marni:  The Replacements are great, but paired with Axl Rose he just seems to be this total tyrant. It will be interesting to see what comes from it. I don’t know.
