When it comes to action movies, it’s hard to tell what people will like. Sometimes huge special effects and an epic, wild plot won’t be as popular as simple, charming characters. Such was the case with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl which, in 2003, rode actor Johnny Depp’s performance to great success.

The film was followed in 2006 by Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest and most recently by Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End. The newest installment of the franchise is a much bigger production with a further-reaching plot. But has it lost some of the original movie’s charm?

Kevin: Hey, I’ve been wanting to see it but I haven’t, have you seen Pirates of the Caribbean 3?

Mason: Oh yeah, I mean, I’ve been a huge fan of the pirates…

Kevin: I heard it’s great.

Mason: I wouldn’t have told you that.

Kevin: Really? Why? What happened?

Mason: Like all things, it depends on your expectations.

Kevin: Okay.

Mason: It’s really over the top. You know the first movie, it was such a sleeper. Nobody expected…

Kevin: It was a big surprise. It was amazing.

Mason: And it was funny because it was just kind of small. It was very charming. It was just about the characters. This was this huge, mythical, journey-battle. I mean it’s so much. I think they kind lost the thing that made it so charming.

Kevin: But it’s well done.

Mason: It’s well done. It’s a…it’s a wild ride. But there’s a really cool…actually…You know how people have starting putting a little thing, like if you sit through the trailers you get that little snippet of extra story?

Kevin: Yes, yes.

Mason: They did that and the extra story was really good. So if you do go, I suggest you park yourself and wait the extra five minutes.

Kevin: I often do that.

Kevin hasn’t seen the newest Pirates of the Caribbean movie yet, though he’s heard that it’s really good. But Mason says that he didn’t exactly love it. He says was expecting a quaint little story like the first movie, but that the new film is really over the top. But he says that at the end of the movie, after the credits, there’s an extra little bit of story that’s really good.

What’s your favorite sequel? Do you generally prefer epic plots with tons of special effects or simpler movies?

I don't know it is the magic of Johnny Depp acting, voice or something beyond that but Pirates of the Caribbean movie has really enthralled the all over fans. His comedy moments and physical signs makes us complete laugh while watching this awesome movie. ahhhhhhhhhh did i missed something? Who forgets about the great voice of johny depp in Rango movie who put emotional depth in all the movies with his golden voice.

Johnny Depp is God Konstantina says, so I have to admit that she is in love with him. Despite him being an old guy. He is a very good actor too. Not that women care about it.

I have been watched all thre parts and I must say I prefer the first one. It was really number one. I expected more about the other two, but there were to much battle sequences, especialy in the third one. The actors were great. Johnny Deep create the role of his life.

I don't like the movie with lots of special effects. Because the film maker may just focus on making the special effects but ignore the plots of the story.

I like movies that contain good stories and dialogue. Sadly, we don't get too many movies of that sort now as many film companies prefer blockbusters with lots of action and special effects. Although I always look for a good story, I enjoy movies without pretenses such as action movies that don't pretend to have good stories and just keep you at the edge of your seats. I like warm comedies with very human stories as well. I definitely do not like movies that make fun of people (some comedies are like this, in other words, they poke fun at the misfortune of others).

It's a great movie.I love Keira Knightley and Johny Depp. But it makes me confused whether if Elizabeth Swann ever loved Jack Sparrow .

Actually, I don’t like watching movies. So Usually I sleep during the running time of a movie. But when I watched the Pirates of the Caribbean 1 and 2, I couldn’t sleep. Because It was really funny and amazing for me. I don’t watch Pirates of the Caribbean 3 yet. But some friends said that the movie is really funny. But other some friends said it’s little bit boring. I think it’s depends on one’s one’s expectations and tates. And last, I agree that most movies’ extra story are really funny, and usually first movie is batter than sequel.

well, good lesson i like both type of films if it contains good story no matter that it's story has epics, as "THE MUMMY" and on the other i also like simple story movies like "CASTAWAY".

i never yet see that film, but want to see it…..

It's a nice movie, but just Mason said, I don't like it either. I watched the first and the second Pirates of the Caribbean which are really fantastic. However, the third looks not exciting. This is a nice lesson, and I also find someone who has the same opinion. kkkk_~Over a top is nice phrase. I will use it often.
