Anne

Sue:  Anne, I need to talk to you about the files you’ve been working on.

Anne:  Sure. What’s up?

Sue:  Well, they’re not what I wanted. I thought I told you to make all documents single-spaced.

Anne:  These files were a little harder to read single-spaced. I thought you would prefer the double-spacing.

Sue:  Well you thought wrong. You need to start paying attention.

Anne:  You know, I’m doing my best here. You should cut me a little slack.

Sue:  Cut you slack? How can I do that when you’re the biggest slacker on our crew!

Anne:  You know what? I’ve been wanting to tell what’s been on my mind for a long time now.

Sue:  Oh yeah? Go ahead, vent.

Anne:  To tell you the truth, this job sucks. I’ve hated it ever since I started. And you know why? Because you’re an arrogant bitch.

Sue:  Is that so?

Anne:  Yes, and everyone else feels the same way. You’re crew is going to leave before you know it.

Sue:  You can pack your things and leave, Anne. Never come back.

Anne:  Fine with me. Good riddance.

Discussion

This conversation starts out OK, but as it goes on, both Anne and Sue get very angry. Sue is always telling Anne that she’s not doing a very good job. Anne gets upset and both of them “raise their voices.” Do you have any interesting stories about work? Have you ever had a boss you don’t like? I’ve had several. I know just how Anne feels. —Doc
